Busy day today. We drove around Paris a bit in a bus with a funny tour guide named Nicholas (whom Carolyn kept calling
"Nicole"). He had an odd accent when he spoke English, definately not French. We stopped at Notre Dame which was gorgeous.
The weather was fab as well. A summery 21 degrees (Celcius)! After doing a bit more driving, we made our way to Versailles.
There, we stopped at this little restaurant. The sandwich they're known for is called a "croque monsieur" which is like a
toasted ham and cheese sandwich. I just had a ham sandwich that was on a baguette and had some very yummy cheese on it. I
also had really good lemonade there. It was fizzy and very light (not too sugary). Then we went to the Palace. It was very
beautiful but I wasn't as awestruck as I thought I'd be. It was also disappointing that the Hall of Mirrors was going through
renovations. Plus, everything that the guide was telling us, I already knew. Our restaurant tonight was near the Champs Elysées
and we had some extra time before supper to go shopping. But there were no good stores on the street where our restaurant
was. Me, Natal, Nagle, Jill, Joel, Nick and Colin went to Champs Elysées but everything there was expensive. The only thing
I bought was the CD by the French singer Jenifer. After supper we had the option to go walking down Champs Elysées but
since we already did that (and there was no point since the shops would be closed), we opted for going back to the hotel with
Carolyn and Mme Carruthers. On the way back to the hotel we stopped to get some junk food. At the hotel, me, Jill and Natal
were hanging out in our room watching German MTV (which has some pretty weird/funny commercials, might I add) and then Diab,
Alicia, Kerri, Kelli, Nick, Laura, Joel, Colin and Nagle all stopped by (not all at the same time, mind you). When the guys
weren't there, someone had the retarded idea of ordering porn. But we didn't end up doing it (thank God). People were coming
and going from the room and stuff. At one point I was tossing little paper coaster things out the window to watch them float
and flitter to the ground and shouting down to Nick and Laura who were a couple floors down and doing the same thing as I
was with the paper. Amidst all the people coming and going, we did have some interesting conversations too. That and amazingly
we didn't get to bed too late (12:30am).
