Look! They're driving on the wrong side of the road. |
We did not sleep at all on the plane. Everyone was dead tired when we arrived at Heathrow. I had a coffee on the plane
and that woke me up a bit. We landed at Heathrow at about 6:30am (London time. Which was about 2:30am to our bodyclocks,
mind you.). and I was very relieved that my suitcase arrived there as well. Customs was nothing. We handed the woman our passport
and that was it (after giving it back, of course). In the arrivals area we met up with our tour director, Carolyn. While waiting
for our bus, we wandered around I bought a latte. It was a misty day and was fairly cold but was still nice. We got into the
bus and drove to the hotel. I took so many pictures of the gorgey houses we passed. At the hotel, we put our bags into a locked
conference room for when we could check in. We went on our walking tour. We took the Tube to right outside Big Ben (along
the Thames). We saw the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey. We passed Downing Street and then went to Trafalgar Square
where we saw Nelson's Column. We then made our way to Covent Garden, stopping in the "China Town" area (Soho, I think). On
one street, we passed a scary looking hooker or something who looked a bit like Debby Harry from Blondie. In Covent Garden
we had some time to kill so we got to go off on our own. Jess and Natal went off and I was with Jill. We explored some of
the stores and the like. H&M is definately my fav of the stores. I got a t-shirt, earrings and a skirt about 16 pounds
(around 40$ canadian)! We took the tube back to Queensway station and walked back to our hotel. The other half of our group
(who took a later flight than the flight I took) had already arrived so we got our rooms and we went up and changed. I was
so happy to get out of the clothes I had been wearing since Thursday morning! When we left for dinner, it was raining. We
trekked in the rain from the Tube to the pub (The Albert) where we had fish and chips. We went back to the hotel after and
just crashed.
